Who I am…
I have worked in every phase of TV journalism, beginning in Chicago where I covered breaking news, produced magazine stories and was a principal member of an investigative reporting team that earned a national reputation for excellence.
The adage in Chicago newsrooms — “If your mother says she loves you, check it out.” — gave me an appreciation for meticulous research and attention to detail.
From Chicago, I moved to CNN’s headquarters in Atlanta, where my focus was documentary storytelling. Working with some of the network’s most important correspondents, I covered a broad range of topics, including social issues, international affairs, health/science, crime, history, military affairs and celebrity profiles.
These long-form projects took me from the mountains of eastern Tennessee (rural education) to the deserts of Darfur (genocide). I have interviewed gang members, politicians, Holocaust survivors, scientists, soldiers, celebrities, federal agents, foreign leaders, fundamentalists, academic experts. And one mime.
